Questions for reflection

What do you think of the phrase ‘limits are behind all loss’? Have you experienced grief as the result of a limit that has cost you something?

How did you find you related to William Worden’s four tasks of grief through your own losses?

How might we bring our ‘little losses’ to God? Consider using a passage from the Book of Common Prayer or something similar to find language for grief that you can use in your own prayer life or journal.

If you’re grieving the loss of a loved one, write a funeral style tribute for them and offer it to God as a prayer for them and for the relationship you shared with them.

What might it mean in your setting to weep with those who weep and rejoice with those who rejoice? Perhaps offering companionship to someone bereaved or celebrating with someone who has completed a project important to them?

Read through Psalm 23 highlighting the characteristics of God that can provide comfort.
